[riptide has legosi's gift delivered, because he's a bit too lazy to actually seek the guy out and give it to him in person.
it's, uh. a bunch of legos (he's clever) and some shakespeare books. happy... holidays? there's a card in there as well-- it's very sparkly. at least he picked on of these things with care.]
[ Legosi was minding his own business and quiet time when there is a nervous knock outside his door. he stares at it for a moment, and while the thought of not answering crosses his mind, eventually he gets up because it'd just be rude not to answer.
Once the door is open, he looks back at the elf (honestly, he still can't tell the difference between an elf and a human) ]
[ there is a bag now, and he looks down at it, then back at her, and ears move quickly. OH NO....... ]
I've been shedding my summer coat and now the winter coat is growing back, since the weather is all messed up- [ well, it's not the weather, but the fact that legosi was brought in during a different season ] I'm sorry, I usually have it a bit more under control- [ he usually cuts off his fur, that's what he does ]
I would hope so, because this is bordering on intolerable! [she huffs softly, some of the edge taken out of her voice. it's not his fault; she tends to lose a lot of hair under daily brushing anyway.]
But I found this while I was out today -- [out of the second bag, she retrieves a paddle brush with wire bristles.] And...this... [a slicker. for dogs.]
Perhaps this will help ease the seasonal transition for you and all ten million of your follicles.
The relief I'll have in no longer finding fur on my belongings will be payment enough, thank you. [also she lost the receipt.] I don't want to be presumptuous, but you've used these sorts of things before, yes?
[beat.]
...I only ask because Darin apparently never touched a comb in his life. Nothing is impossible here.
yes, of course - wolves lose and grow two different coats every year, so we are expected to make sure we keep our fur tidy.
[ legosi touches his chin ] I will take a whole, though. Since my fur is all weird right now because of the quick change of seasons... [ a pause ] Well, it normally takes a while regardless...
[this is getting weird. why is it weird? she went out of her way to do a nice thing! make a nice offer! even an opening to have her butt out! why is this weird?! UGHHH!!!!
her ear twitches.]
That...ahh, haha...[twitch, twitch.] That's not terribly reassuring, you know? You can just say yes or no, you know.
I don't think I would mind, that's what I mean. [ but no one ever brushed his fur, so he just doesn't know if it's something that he should mind or not. ]
Oh! Well. [that's...almost a proper yes? she'll take that as almost a proper yes. and if he's not going to be more assertive, she will. it's for the sake of her clothes, after all!
she steps back from the door, glancing toward the washroom.]
Let me...go grab another bag. To catch more shed fur. It'll probably be easier to clean up in the washroom, since it'd just get all over your room anyway.
[beat.
squint.]
...It's probably already all over your room, isn't it.
...Right. Well. Let's not add to the decor for now. [she gestures with her thumb before she starts walking toward the bathroom. trying to pep herself up:] Let's see to this!
[it's fine! not weird at all! grooming all of her housemates! this is like...working at a stable, right????]
[ legosi nods softly and follows after, heading to the bathroom. he isn't exactly sure what to do, but realizes probably sitting on the floor is best since he is pretty tall.
He sits down and pulls out his t-shirt, leaving it between his legs. On his back, Legosi has 8 large scars across it, even if the fur partially hides them. He is a bit self-conscious of them, but it's not like he can be brushed if he has his shirt on ]
No, they are healed. [ but they are not going away either. That's what happens when a Tiger gives you matching stripes ] If they bother you, I can put the shirt back on.
No, no--it's fine. Scars happen, right? We all have our own. I just didn't want to tear something up.
[but upon a better look, he's right -- those are pretty healed. still, she's glad she asked; you never know how touchy people can be about their bodies! herself included.
after she huffs out some of those excess nerves, she puts a stabilizing hand on one of his shoulders and sets to carefully grazing his other shoulder with the brush.]
Just tell me if I brush too hard or soft, alright?
... I suppose. [ he supposes. His scars happened because he was a stubborn carnivore, but honestly he still doesn't think he was in the wrong. ]
It's fine, wolf's fur is pretty thick but smooth, so- [ so it's easier to brush, really. honestly, he thinks she worries too much about little things. ]
I should brush as well-[ he glances over his shoulder, back at her, requesting for a brush ]
Ah--here, then. [she picks up one of the slickers she bought and hands it over before settling back into a rhythm of her own. he's right about both counts as far as texture goes, and she's surprised by each pass how much stays on the brush...and how much there still is. gods.
she remembers passing by a dog groomer's not long ago, seeing through the window one getting brushed that was blissfully shaking its leg. she wonders if that sort of thing happens to wolves...or, er, bipedal ones? hum.]
Have people been treating you fairly out there, Legosi?
[this may not be a proper hair salon, but smalltalk while grooming is fairly universal, right?]
[ legosi starts brushing his arm carefully. He won't be shaking his leg, that doesn't happen, but it does fell quite nice and he can recognize that, at least. He ends up stretching his back when the brush passes through a specially nice spot, before his shoulders relax again ]
Oh- yes, I think so. I think they are more used to me now, too. [ his ear twitches ] I may be a bit lucky, though, since I look scary not many try to bother me.
Ah, yes-- most wouldn't assume you're as calm and...nonconfrontational as you are naturally. And aside from some costumed mascots I've seen at the shopping center, perhaps quite a unique sight on an average day! I'm sure you'll find some way to use it to your advantage, one way or another.

action
[knock. knock knock.
Cecelia's waiting impatiently at his door, a pair of small bags dangling from her wrist at her hip.]

... Yes?

[she shoves one of the bags toward him, not waiting for hands.
inside is...fur. fur stuck to many, many, many lint roller sheets.]
That was just in the common room. You're on the verge of being able to build a life-size model of yourself at this rate!

Honestly, as a male wolf, legosi cares little for his appearance, but those come in hand. he never even thought about getting them here ]
Oh- ah- I will give you the money for those, I should have bought them before. How much were they?

then, with a practical tone:] Then I'll assist, yes? I can't imagine it's easy to get behind the shoulders, no matter how flexible you may be.
Will that be acceptable?

Legosi tilts his head. It's something that... doesn't really happen. No one brushes the other person's fur. probably. He isn't sure.
Does that even happen????? ]

I don- I don't know? I- if you want to? [ WHAT DOES HE EVEN SAY? ]
no subject
That...isn't very assuring? I mean-- are you going to freak out if I help? You look...well, displeased isn't the right word for it, but...

I don't mind, I think.
